Map of the Former Residential Schools of Canada
- the page includes a chart citing school name, location and the church entity which operated the school.

"From the 1870s to the 1990s Canada, often in partnership with leading church organizations, operated a residential school system to which over 150,000 First Nation, Métis, and Inuit students were sent. This map shows the location of residential schools identified by the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. Students who attended these schools are eligible to apply for compensation."

Canadian History and the Indian Residential School System

Produced in 2014, this is a 20 minute history of Canada and the Indian Residential School system. Though not comprehensive, it was meant to provide historical context and intended as a prequel to the video Murray Sinclair Truth and Reconciliation. Developed for School District 27 Grade 5/10 History curriculum.

The Survivors’ Flag
See an explanation of the artwork as well as Survivors speaking on the significance of the flag.
The Survivors’ Flag is an expression of remembrance, meant to honour residential school Survivors and all the lives and communities impacted by the residential school system in Canada. Each element depicted on the flag was carefully selected by Survivors from across Canada, who were consulted in the flag’s creation.
